The on-farm research network behind the evidence

The ARC exists to close the gap between agricultural ideas and reliable real-world knowledge — combining the best of farm experience, agronomic science and emerging technologies to create useful evidence in real conditions.

01

Explanations

Understand how crops, soils, weather and systems interact so decisions are grounded in agronomic understanding, not guesswork.

02

Evidence

Use shared data, project findings and real-farm outcomes to judge what is credible, repeatable and worth attention.

03

Experimentation

Turn ideas into structured farm trials, communities and projects that create practical learning rather than isolated anecdotes.

04

Exchange

Bring farmers, agronomists, researchers and ag-tech partners together to share learning earlier and improve faster.

Who ARC Innovators is for

The ARC creates value for different groups in different ways — whether you are a farmer looking for practical trials, an agronomist seeking better-connected evidence, or an ag-tech company wanting a credible on-farm route to market.

FR

Farmers

Test ideas, join trials that fit real farm conditions and learn from others before committing.

  • See what is worth testing on your system
  • Join trials designed around practical farm constraints
  • Learn from shared experience across the network
AR

Agronomists & researchers

Connect agronomic science to real-farm implementation and build better trial communities.

  • Shape projects around genuine farm questions
  • Collaborate with engaged growers and partners
  • Generate findings people will actually use
AT

Ag-tech companies

Test your technology in real conditions with a credible, farmer-led route to ADOPT funding.

  • Connect innovations to the right farms and contexts
  • Improve faster with honest, detail-focused feedback
  • Build real-world evidence that supports adoption

Supporting the ADOPT programme

ADOPT is Defra's £20m initiative to fund on-farm trials and accelerate the adoption of proven agricultural innovations. The ARC is registered as a facilitator and can engage as a contractor or full project partner.

FC

Facilitator

Registered with Innovate UK. We help coordinate your ADOPT proposal, manage engagement and steer delivery across farm sites.

CT

Contractor

Commission us to deliver specific elements — trial design, farm recruitment, data collection, statistical analysis or meta-analysis.

PP

Full partner

We co-develop the proposal, bring the farm network, manage delivery end-to-end and co-own the outputs and findings.

Have an idea you'd like to test on-farm?

Tell us what you want to explore and we'll help you assess the ADOPT fit, shape the research question and find the right farms.
